The Gemini visibility tracker for brand mentions in Google's AI assistant
A Gemini visibility tracker runs a fixed set of buyer prompts through Google's Gemini assistant on a schedule and records whether Gemini names your brand, which competitors it names instead, and which web sources it cites when it grounds an answer in Google Search. The Gemini app had 950M monthly users as of July 2026, and it is a separate surface from Google AI Overviews / AI Mode. SolCrys tracks Gemini on Starter ($99/mo), Pro, and Custom; the free workspace covers ChatGPT only. Start Free

Questions this guide answers
- How do I track my brand's visibility in Google Gemini?
- What is a Gemini visibility tracker?
- Is Gemini different from ChatGPT for brand visibility?
- Does blocking Google-Extended remove my brand from Gemini?
- How is Gemini tracking different from Google AI Overviews tracking?
Direct answer
A Gemini visibility tracker measures, on a fixed set of buyer prompts run repeatedly, how often Gemini names your brand, which competitors it names in your place, and which sources it cites when it grounds the answer in Google Search. Because Gemini grounds some answers in Search and answers others from model knowledge, a useful tracker keeps both the answer and its sources.
SolCrys tracks Gemini on every paid plan: Starter ($99/mo) alongside ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, Pro ($399/mo) as one of any 4 of 5 engines, and Custom with all 5. The free workspace covers ChatGPT only (10 prompts and 1 content audit; email verification, no credit card).
Why Gemini needs its own line in your tracking
Gemini is not "ChatGPT, but from Google," and it is not the same surface as Google AI Overviews. Four things make it worth measuring on its own:
- Reach. The Gemini app had 950M monthly users as of July 2026 (Alphabet), and Apple and Google said on Jan. 12, 2026 that the next Apple Foundation Models, including a more personalized Siri, will be based on Gemini (joint statement).
- Grounding is the model's call. Gemini can ground an answer in Google Search results and cite them, or answer from the model's own knowledge. Which one happens depends on the question, so some answers about your brand come with sources and some come without.
- The model changes underneath you. Gemini 3.5 Flash became the default in the Gemini app and AI Mode on May 19, 2026 (Google); 3.6 Flash reached everyone in the app in July (Google), and paid tiers got 3.8 Flash in September. A shift in your numbers can come from a model change, not from anything you shipped.
- Personal context varies by user. Personal Intelligence, launched Jan. 14, 2026, lets Gemini draw on a user's Gmail, Photos, YouTube, and Search history; connecting apps is off by default (Google), and it reached free-tier users in the US in March (Google). A tracker measures the shared, non-personalized baseline.
What a Gemini visibility tracker should measure
Four signals, on the same buyer-intent prompts, run repeatedly. One run is an anecdote: SparkToro's 2026 study found the same brand list in the same order less than once in 1,000 runs (SparkToro).
- Mention rate. Across repeated runs, how often does Gemini name your brand?
- Competitor share. Who does Gemini name when it doesn't name you, and how often?
- Grounded sources. When Gemini grounds the answer in Google Search, which pages does it cite, and are any of them yours?
- Accuracy. Answers drawn from model knowledge can lag your current pricing, product names, or positioning. Check what Gemini says, not just whether it says your name.
What SolCrys measures on Gemini
SolCrys aims its Gemini measurement at what app users get by default: the Flash model the app serves to everyone, with Google Search grounding left to the model's judgment and no citation instructions added to your prompt. Each tracked prompt runs daily or weekly from the workspace's market country, and each grounding link is resolved to the real source URL.
| What you see | What it tells you | Where in SolCrys |
|---|---|---|
| Mention rate and share-of-voice ranking | How often Gemini names you across runs, and your rank among tracked competitors by mention rate | Visibility, filtered to Gemini |
| Cited sources by domain and URL | Which pages Gemini grounds on, grouped as Owned, Competitor, Editorial, UGC, or Other | Citations |
| Citation - Mentions You | The share of cited pages that mention your brand | Visibility and Citations |
| Recommendation Score | A 0–100 favorability score for each answer that names you, with every point tied to quoted text | Recommendation |
| Answer Accuracy | Pass or fail on brand facts, graded against your Corporate Context (Pro: up to 15 prompts; Custom: every prompt) | Answer Accuracy |
| Deep Analysis | Why a prompt is weak: the answers, citations, competitor presence, and engine differences, with proposed actions | Prompts, then Analyze |
| Content Audit and Action Hub | Page-level fixes for the URLs Gemini grounds on or skips, tracked as assigned, human-approved work | Content Audit, Action Hub |
What SolCrys does not measure on Gemini
SolCrys does not track the Gemini API, Gemini in Google Workspace, or paid Gemini tiers as separate surfaces, model Personal Intelligence, compute a search-rank "borrow rate" or recency score, or send alerts on drops. Google AI Overviews is its own engine, not folded into Gemini, and AI Mode answers are not captured.
Which SolCrys plans include Gemini
Gemini is on every paid plan. Prices as listed on the SolCrys pricing page in September 2026.
| Plan | Price | Gemini | Engines and prompts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | No | ChatGPT only; 10 prompts and 1 content audit; email verification, no credit card |
| Starter | $99/mo | Yes | ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews; 20 tracked prompts |
| Pro | $399/mo | Yes, as one of any 4 engines | Any 4 of ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Claude; 60 tracked prompts |
| Custom | Scoped with sales | Yes | All 5 engines; caps scoped to the contract |
Gemini vs. Google AI Overviews / AI Mode
Both run on Gemini models, but they're different products with different entry points, and SolCrys tracks them as separate engines. Starter includes both, so you can compare them on the same prompts.
| Dimension | Gemini app | Google AI Overviews / AI Mode |
|---|---|---|
| Where buyers meet it | A standalone assistant (web, mobile, and other Google surfaces) | Inside Google Search results |
| When it uses the web | When the model decides to ground in Google Search | Built on Google Search: its index, core ranking systems, and query fan-out |
| Content controls | Google-Extended covers Gemini training and grounding in Gemini Apps | Googlebot access and snippet controls, plus a site-level Search Console opt-out (since Aug. 31, 2026) |
| Scale (Google-reported) | 950M monthly users (July 2026) | AI Overviews 2.5B+ monthly; AI Mode 1B+ monthly (2026) |
| In SolCrys | Gemini engine | Google AI Overviews engine (AI Mode answers are not captured) |
What tends to move Gemini visibility
Gemini draws on two things you can influence: the Google Search results it grounds on, and the facts the model already holds about your category.
- Decide on Google-Extended deliberately. Google-Extended is the robots.txt token that controls whether Google may use your content to train Gemini models and to ground answers in Gemini Apps; per Google's crawler documentation, it does not affect inclusion or ranking in Google Search. Blocking it to opt out of training also takes your pages out of Gemini's grounding.
- Build the Search foundation. When Gemini grounds an answer, it draws on the Google Search index, so indexable pages that answer the buyer's question directly are the base layer.
- Fix the facts the model already holds. Keep one current, consistent version of your pricing, product names, and category claims on your site and the third-party pages that describe you, then check with Answer Accuracy whether Gemini repeats them.
- Skip Gemini-only tricks. Google's guidance for its AI search features says there's no special schema or AI text file to add. Pages that help people in Search are the pages Gemini can ground on.
How to verify a change worked on Gemini
The SolCrys loop is Measure → Diagnose → Execute → Verify. Diagnose weak prompts with Deep Analysis, Citations, and Answer Accuracy; execute fixes through Content Audit and the Action Hub, where your team approves every change (SolCrys never publishes for you); verify by rerunning the same frozen prompt set on the same engines and re-auditing the page for score recovery.
Read the before/after as an observation, not proof of cause. On Gemini, a model change can move answers on its own, so compare several runs and check whether the other engines moved too.

FAQ
What is a Gemini visibility tracker?
A tool that runs a fixed set of buyer prompts through Google Gemini on a schedule and reports how often Gemini names your brand, which competitors it names instead, and which web sources it cites when it grounds an answer in Google Search. Because answers vary from run to run and by user, it reports rates across repeated, non-personalized runs rather than any one person's answer.
Does the SolCrys free workspace include Gemini?
No. The free workspace tracks ChatGPT only: 10 prompts and 1 content audit, with email verification and no credit card. Gemini is on Starter ($99/mo, with ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews), Pro ($399/mo, any 4 of 5 engines), and Custom (all 5).
How is Gemini different from ChatGPT for brand visibility?
Both can answer from model knowledge or from the web, but Gemini grounds in Google Search, so your Google search presence feeds the sources it cites. Track the two engines on the same prompts and read them separately; a brand can be strong on one and absent on the other.
Does blocking Google-Extended remove my brand from Gemini?
Not entirely. Blocking Google-Extended tells Google not to use your content to train Gemini models or to ground answers in Gemini Apps, so your pages drop out of Gemini's cited sources, but Gemini can still mention you from other sites and model knowledge. Per Google, it doesn't affect Search inclusion or ranking; AI Overviews and AI Mode follow Googlebot and Search Console controls.
How does Google AI Mode relate to Gemini tracking?
AI Mode runs on Gemini models but lives inside Google Search and inherits Search's index, ranking systems, and query fan-out, so it behaves more like AI Overviews than like the Gemini app. SolCrys tracks Google AI Overviews as a separate engine and does not capture AI Mode answers; see the Google AI Overviews tracker.
